Claim Stake Policy for Children's Privacy Issues
This Children's Privacy Policy states what information Claim Stake Productions, LLC ("Claim Stake") collects and obtains from users of the travelswithgannonandwyatt.com website (the "Site"), particularly children, and how this information is used.
The Site is intended to offer information, videos, documents and other content related to the book(s) Travels with Gannon & Wyatt. Information from children under the age of 13 ("Children" or "Child") may be collected during use of the Site and this Children's Privacy Policy will explain how such information is collected and used. If you have any questions or concerns about our Children's Privacy Policy or our practices pursuant thereto, please contact us via e-mail, telephone or mail at the addresses listed at the bottom of this page.
1. What Types of Information Does Claim Stake Collect From or About Children?
Children can use the Site and view the content without any personal information being collected. A first name, last name and email address are required subscribe to the Claim Stake's contact list and a name and email address are required to leave posts on the Site blog or message boards. A username and password may also be required to access certain parts or features of the Site.
If a user (including a Child) would like to register on the Site or create a username and password, for example, to subscribe to the Claim Stake contact list, enter contests or sweepstakes, receive newsletters or other information from Claim Stake, we request the Child provide their first name, parents full name, and parent's e-mail address. We may also require a Child to disclose their birthday in order to verify the Child's age. As described below, we will then notify the parent (the term parent used throughout this policy is intended to include legal guardians) of the Child's request to use/register with, the Site.
If a Child contacts us with a question, we may respond on a one-time basis. After we have responded to the Child's e-mail, we will delete all personally-identifiable information, including the Child's e-mail address, from our records.
2. How is the Information From or About Children Used and/or Shared?
The Child's personal information may be used to communicate with the Child, for example, where the Child signs up for a subscription service or newsletter. Where the Child is involved in interactive features of the Site (i.e. blogs and message boards) personal information of the Child may be publicly disclosed to other users of the Site. Personal information collected from Children may also be shared with the parent or legal guardian of the Child to ensure parental consent to participate in features of the Site or notify parents of a change in policies associated with the Site. Claim Stake may also share personal information of a Child with third parties to (1) protect the security of the site, (2) avoid or mitigate liability related to the Site, (3) respond to law enforcement requests where necessary, (4) respond to subpoenas, court orders or legal process, and we exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; (5) believe it is necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving the safety of the public or any person.
3. How Do We Notify Parents and Obtain Parental Consent?
Before collecting, using, or disclosing personal information from/of a Child, we obtain consent from the Child's parent. When a Child signs up to use features of the website requiring collection of personal information, we request the Child disclose their parent's email address and send email notification to the Child's parents seeking their consent for the Child to use/register. The parent will have 48 hours to refuse their Child's registration at the Site. If a refusal is not received from the Child's parent within 48 hours the parent's consent is deemed accepted. Where a parent responds and refuses to allow the Child's registration, we will delete the Child's information from our database.
Where a Child requests participation in features of the site that may involve public disclosure of information related to the Child (i.e. message boards or blogs), we require a higher level of verification and may require the parent verify their consent and identity by speaking with a live telephone operator or returning a signed consent form via postal mail or facsimile. If parental consent is not received the Child will not be allowed to participate in these activities.
A parent may refuse to permit their Child to access or use features of the Site at any time and may request that any personal information of their Child be deleted. For information on how to access, correct or delete a Child's personal information, please see Section 4 below.
4. How Do Parents, Access, Correct or Delete Their Child's Personal Information?
At any time, parents may refuse to permit use or further collection of personal information of their Child and may request personal information we have collected be deleted from our records. We use two methods to allow parents to access, change, or delete the information we have collected from their Children.
A parent may access, change, or delete his or her Child's personal information by logging on to the Child's account at the For Parents Page located at http://travelswithgannonandwyatt.com/parents. The parent will need to have their Child's email address and possibly their member name and password. There are instructions on the For Parents Page explaining how to recover a password if the Child has forgotten it.
A parent may also contact our customer service department to access, change, or delete the personal information collected from his or her Child by telephone or by sending an e-mail to admin@travelswithgannonandwyatt.com. Please include the Child's email address and the parent's name and e-mail address in the e-mail so we can better assist you with your request.
5. What type of automatic tracking mechanisms do we use?
When users visit our website, we automatically track and collect computer information of a non-personally-identifiable nature. The computer information we automatically gather is used to facilitate our online operations and to assure an efficient online experience for you. This information includes the visitor's type of computer operating system (e.g., Microsoft Windows or Macintosh), the visitor's Internet Protocol ("IP") address, the type of web browsing software being used (e.g., Internet Explorer xAE or Firefox xAE), information regarding the visitor's Internet Service Provider ("ISP"), information regarding the web page the visitor viewed before visiting our site, and information collected through the use of cookies and similar technologies, such as web beacons (also referred to as "tracking pixels," or "action tags"). Although cookies and web beacons, in and of themselves, will not provide us with personally-identifiable information about a website visitor, if the visitor provides us with personally-identifiable information, then the information will be linked to the data stored by these technologies. Although you are not required to accept our cookies, if you set your browser to reject cookies, you may not be able to use all of the features and functionality of our site. Users can also delete cookies at any time.
6. How will we notify parents if our Children's Privacy Policy changes?
We may amend our Children's Privacy Policy at any time. We will provide parents notice by e-mail of any material changes in the way we intend to collect, use, and/or share Children's personal information. Please note, at all times, parents should update their personal information to provide us current e-mail addresses.
