The Youth Exploration Society

"To do more for the world than the world does for you - that is success." -- Henry Ford, inventor

The Youth Exploration Society is an organization of young people who are passionate about doing their part to improve the well-being of our planet. YES provides a platform for youth to share their stories, discuss the issues they are passionate about, and join together to make a difference.

Bushmen of the Kalahari

As much of their land has become privately owned over the last century, they have lost critical hunting grounds and now must exist on very small parcels of land. This makes it very difficult for elder Bushmen to provide for their families.

Illiteracy in Girls

higher maternal and child mortality, and a critical lack of participation and leadership from half the population

American Crocodile, Florida

Considered vulnerable as a species, these crocs were once hunted intensively for their hides. Today they are threatened by loss of habitat to human development, illegal killing and roadkill.

Pine Beetle Infestation

communities to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to create safe zones around towns and reservoirs.

Food Shortage

In 2009, the World Food Programme announced that 9 million of N. Korean's 23 million population are in dire need of food.

Malaria in Sub-Saharan Africa

mortalities. (Stats from World Bank.) Many of these cases can be prevented with the simple use of mosquito nets, which only cost a few dollars each.

Southern Cassowary

Southern Cassowaries are vital to the rain forest because they are one of only a few frugivores, or fruit eaters, that can disperse large rain forest fruits. They are the only mechanism of long-distance dispersal for large seeded fruits. They are responsible for the germination of approximately 150 plant species in the rain forest.

Illiteracy in Egypt

It is estimated that women account for 69% of the total number. Furthermore, illiteracy is more prevalent in rural areas than urban areas.
